Fraglíder: Hi Niklas “bloodR” Nyman, can you introduce yourself to our comunity?
astralis|bloodR: Yello, I’m bloodR, 18 years old in few months and playing for the number 1 team at the moment in Finland called astralis.
Fraglíder: What are the clans you were in before you joined astralis?
astralis|bloodR: Before astralis i played for half a year in ctx which was one of the best teams in Finland a year ago. My other teams before that aren’t really worth mentioning. 🙂 I joined astralis when my motivation with ctx dropped to non existent and I just had to do something new.
Fraglíder: In your opinion, was astralis’ perfomance at ECG 2005 good?
astralis|bloodR: It was okay I guess, though we should’ve won the first match against SK as we did a few horrible mistakes there like loosing 4on2, 3on1 etc. The loser bracket final was pretty much lost already before it started since we had pracced cbble for one time only and our coordination was somewhat horrible there from time to time. So in the end we lost only to SK twice which hopefully isn’t that bad, just pretty disappointed that the brackets were selected by lot and we had a lot harder harder opponents unlike for example attax which had it first really tough opponent at the winner bracket final. Oh and btw the tft-monitors sucked hard. 🙂
Fraglíder: You still are young, until when do you think you can play at the highest level?
astralis|bloodR: I’m probably going to play as long as possible but you never know what’s going to happen. Preferably if I can play in as sponsored top clan I won’t be quitting any time soon, even if i had to play source.
Fraglíder: How is a day in the life of Niklas Nyman? And a day in life of Astralis?
astralis|bloodR: Well on school days i usually wake up a bit before 7 a.m. have breakfast and do the normal stuff people do in the morning and then head to school. It ends at 2 p.m. and after that i might go to gym or spend some time with friends or watch a movie. Then somewhere around 4 p.m. to 5. p.m I might go play some public or mixes and after that we start praccing with astralis and do that for 4-5 hours. At the moment our pracc-routine consists of basically some strat checking and then few pcws against other scandinavian teams. Right before events we probably play more and if there isn’t any events coming up we play less or not at all.
Fraglíder: At this moment, you’re considered one of the best players in Finland by many players. What do you think about that?
astralis|bloodR: What can you say, it feels great! 😛 Nah well sometimes it’s hard to live up the expectations but it all comes with experience. I always try to play my best and be as stable as possible.
Fraglíder: Do you consider online events important, knowing of the risks about the ping and other things?
astralis|bloodR: In my opinion online is for pcws and mixes, LAN for real and important tournees. While playing inet there’s just too many factors that make the game random.
Fraglíder: What are Astralis’ future goals, in terms of events?
astralis|bloodR: In few weeks we have online qualifier for the Finnish championship event held at the end of May. At the event itself we consider anything else than a first place finish disappointment but we still will be preparing well for the event since over confidence usually doesn’t lead to good results. Other than that we might have some bigger plans coming too but that’s all uncertain at this point. We won’t be attending CPL Barcelona because it’s a bit too soon and they really should have greater prize money when looking at the level of competition there. Then there’s ESWC which we hope to qualify and unlike last year we’re trying hard to achieve as good as a top 3 placing.
Fraglíder: Do you want to give any special words for the portuguese community?
astralis|bloodR: First of all greets to all our fans in Portugal 😛 but I’m sorry to say I really don’t know much about the scene in there but hope to see you guys at ESWC and hope you do well. 🙂
Fraglíder: Thanks bloodR for your interview, and good luck for your future.
astralis|bloodR: Thank you and also shouts to our sponsors Steelpad/Icemat for supporting us almost a year soon. Also hails to the Samurai gang, best gather clan there is. Be sure to visit www.team-astralis.com #astralis @ Qnet!
