Fomos então falar com ele..
FRAGlíder: Hi Matt, could you please introduce yourself to out readers?
coL|Warden: Hi, I’m Matt Dickens and I currently live in Houston, TX. I’m a second year college student but am currently taking the semester off to practice and travel with the team.
FRAGlíder: How did you start playing Counter-Strike?
coL|Warden: I’m actually a retail newbie. I started CS around 1.0 and never really played it competitively until 1.3. Fell in love with the gameplay and teamwork aspect of the game.
FRAGlíder: How long it takes to you decide to play seriously?
coL|Warden: In all honesty, before Jason Lake told me about his plans for coL I was ready to put CS aside and really focus on college. So I have really never taken CS this seriously or taken a semester off school for it until now.
FRAGlíder: Can you tell us in what teams have you played?
coL|Warden: GB, Forsaken, GameWyze and now coL.
FRAGlíder: What is the feeling of play for one of the best teams in the world?
coL|Warden: It feels great although we havn’t accomplished all we want to yet. I’m glad to play with great players and under such excellent management.
FRAGlíder: Do you believe that esports are the sports of the future?
coL|Warden: Yes I believe esports has a future but I am not sure how close in the future we are talking.
FRAGlíder: How come you joined up with coL?
coL|Warden: Jason Lake called me one night around a year ago and asked me if I was interested in making a esports team like no other. I was hesitant at first but I entrusted all faith in Jason and boy has he came through in a big way.
FRAGlíder: Could you describe your mates as players?
coL|Warden: tr1p: consistency, strats
fRoD: aim, reaction, communication
storm: good rifles, good attitude
sunman: clutch player, good rifles
warden: good rifles, good communication, fun guy described by his teammates
FRAGlíder: Which events will your team attend for 2005?
coL|Warden: CPL Spain, ACON 5 qualifier (hopefully we make it to the grand finals!), ESWC qualifier and more I’m sure. These are just the events we know for sure we will be attending.
FRAGlíder: Do you play other games besides Counter-Strike?
coL|Warden: I tinker with World of Warcraft and play DOTA (a wc3:ft custom map). Other than that CS keeps my hands full.
FRAGlíder: What your family thinks about you play Counter-Strike so seriously?
coL|Warden: They support me in whatever I choose to do, but me being paid helps a lot on the issue of how much time I spend on the computer.
FRAGlíder: In one sentence tell a tip for all the players that want to be pro gamers.
coL|Warden: Just headshot.
FRAGlíder: Do you believe that nowadays with all this marketing around Counter-Strike is not fun anymore to play
?
coL|Warden: No, I still enjoy the game every lan we attend and the sponsors who back each team make this game worth playing.
FRAGlíder: Angel Muñoz set the date for CPL Summer in the same week for ESWC 2005 how do you think this will affect esports in the professional way?
coL|Warden: Since new sponsors will be divided to attend and invest in CPL or ESWC.
I do not think it will effect esports at all. Sponsors will sponsor the tournaments that get the most attention, and both CPL and ESWC do just fine with media coverage.
FRAGlíder: SK-Gaming is known for their great organization with professionals behind them working in marketing and publicity, do you belive that in 1/2 years all the teams will be like SK-Gaming or the sponsors will not invest as they invested in SK?
coL|Warden: coL is far from being like SK is. We are a multi gaming organization but the way we do our business and run our organization I’m sure differs from SK a lot. I think when you approach a sponsor, being an organization is key but they also look at a lot of other things such as website statistics etc.
FRAGlíder: coL have now a lot of success in world community, what happened that changed coL?
coL|Warden: Before last CPL our team practiced and developed teamwork and friendship. I think that took us a very long way and hopefully will continue to prove worthy this year.
